On the effect of yttrium promotion on Ni-layered double hydroxides-derived catalysts for hydrogenation of CO2 to methane

Ni-containing mixed oxides derived from layered double hydroxides with various amounts of yttrium were synthesized by a co-precipitation method at constant pH and then obtained thermal decomposition. The characterization techniques XRD, elemental analysis, low-temperature N2 sorption, H2-TPR, CO2-TPD, TGA TPO used on the studied catalysts. catalytic activity catalysts was evaluated in CO2 methanation reaction performed atmospheric pressure. results confirmed formation nano-sized after decomposition hydrotalcites. introduction to Ni/Mg/Al led stronger interaction between nickel species matrix support decreased particle size as compared yttrium-free catalyst. modification Y (0.4 2 wt%) had positive effect performance moderate temperature region (250–300 °C), conversion increasing 16% for MO-0Y 81% 40% MO-0.4Y MO-2.0Y 250 °C, respectively. improved may be correlated increase percentage medium-strength basic sites, metal-support interaction, well crystallite metallic nickel.
